Social Impact India has made significant strides in its development this year. In addition to establishing an office in Hyderabad, India, we have also designed and launched our first programme. The inaugural sessions were held in June 2006 and here are a few highlights:
- Eight exceptional social entrepreneurs were inducted after a competitive application process. To view their profiles, click here.
- Our first training sessions commenced in partnership with Virtue Ventures and the Center for Social Initiative and Management in Hyderabad.
- The mentor programme was designed and the first group of potential mentors met.
- A celebration event at the inaugural sessions in June 2006 was hosted for over 90 people in Hyderabad, India. The guest speaker was Ashoka Fellow, Bablu Ganguli, and the room was filled with an excellent group of nonprofit, government and corporate partners.
- We are hiring two new staff members: International Director and India Coordinator.
- We are launching a new study on the social capital markets of India which will help us map the landscape of social financers and potential partners.
